Children of Nature
by Sue Maddox Toth
Hauntingly beautiful, designed
to enthrall,
a world of mystery, intriguing
to all.
One mans miracle and another
mans death,
invaluable knowledge now
lost to the mists.
A ritual and magic to the
aboriginal man,
an incredible breakthrough
in a scientist’s hand.
Miracles found, gifts from
natures breast,
profoundly more potent than
a synthetic’s best.
A matter of worship, strange
ways of life,
listen to the rhythms and
put an end to much blight.
Balance from chaos, free
souls to flight!
Rediscover what’s lost,
remember what is right,
emerge from the darkness
inspired by the light.
Let the Children of nature
be your guide,
learn to humble technology’s
pride.
Gather what you may, halt
the destructive tide,
while the cultural knowledge
has yet to die.
You may yet be enlightened,
if you dare try.

the dwindling rainforest and the traditional cures used in ancient cultures
that are disappearing at an alarming rate. Having lost a parent of
cancer I wonder all the time what we have lost or what could have been
had we in our current state of educated superiority learned from the new
people we discovered instead of inflicting our values and culture on them."
