Throw Away
by Sue Maddox Toth
The shock and anger lessen
each day
slowly even the disbelief
fades.
These levels of fear I can’t
understand,
all that was offered was
a helping hand.
There were no contracts
in blood to sign,
I have no use for any soul
but mine!
There were no traps nor
prisons within,
only someone to stand as
your friend.
No manipulation, no loss
of self,
Just my tender touch to
be felt;
pain eased away at the end
of the day
safety and friendship in
every way.
Time to share, joint hurts
to mend,
adventures to find without
end:
walks in the rain, cuddles
through thunder,
held during the night, it
was your spell I was under.
Friendship was offered,
but advantage was taken,
from that nightmare I have
finally awakened.
I offered love and friendship
to stay,
instead you chose to throw
me away.....
