The wisdom of the Elders is hopelessly lost.
Just an example of technology’s cost.
Our world is dying a little more every day.
Reverence for nature has slowly decayed.

Gone are the teachings of nature’s way.
Such a price for our next generation to pay.
Concrete, asphalt and plastics abound,
as more of the rain forest is torn to the ground.

So many people and not enough land!
Technology again has stayed nature’s hand.
Forcing life on the young and the old.
Yes, man has gotten much too bold!

Our wisdom is gone, replaced by fear,
the time of accounting is drawing near.
Can we survive, a small select few?
To pass on the wisdom we learned anew. 

Authors Note: Written in the east end of the westbound tunnel in Hampton on a cold and rainy afternoon shift.  My Supervisor had just given me conflicting instructions that left me feeling there was no wisdom in any of the “elders” I was working with at the time.  Being in the tunnel brought the technology into my thought process as I watched people do things that would frighten any observer.  The worst part is despite being dressed in fluorescent orange, most never realized they were being observed. ~E.
