The
Willow Tree
by Sue Maddox Toth
In my mind’s eye I see a
clear running stream,
with a carpet of moss thick
and deep green.
And a truly majestic weeping
willow tree.
The leaves are thick, The
boughs pulled down,
their tips swaying, gently
touching the ground.
The day is clear and very
warm,
in the field of wild flowers
the honey bees swarm.
The birds sing sweetly as
they fly to and fro,
feeding their young so they
quickly grow.
Butterflies flutter and
dragonflies shine,
in this secret world of
yours and mine.
A basket of food and a bottle
of wine,
in the willows shelter we
slowly dine.
Shedding our clothes, we
play in the stream,
like children in an elders
dream.
Later... behind the curtain
of the willow,
the moss and my breast a
perfect pillow.
Free to share our lovers’
embrace,
our pleasure in each other
we slowly take.
Sleeping together after
our passion is spent,
here under the willow, natures
tent.
Arising much later refreshed
and renewed,
to the glorious sunset and
the forming dew.
