Summer
Nocturne
by
N. Scott Reynolds
Nightfall
Lying
on my sofa
Cool
with the new air conditioner
The
outside air has cooled somewhat
Fortunately,
Between
the heat of the Southern
Summer
and the medication
I
take could leave me
Coma-bound
The
nightlife has lurched
Into
gear
The
hard core coffee drinkers
Lounge
in the coffeehouses
Listening
to the music and writing poetry
TV
on home life
Computer
on
Jazzy
thoughts
Looking
at Van Gogh’s paintings
Surfing
the net @ the Web Museum
Listening
to Shawn Colvin
and
band multi-task
Want
her still
She
is gone
New
love rising old friends
Gathering
My
time seems secure today
The
stars and the planets yowl
their
magnetic forces and influences
nocturne
the
river flows
the
stars sing
60,000
guitars scream
rockabilly
shouts
love
Sexton’s
voice
On

Cigarette
low and hoarse
I
love the women poets
Even
if they’re dead
While
away time
Free
from grad school
The
world happens
Revolves
Stresses
At
last I have peace
But
I’m getting old
Waiting
for E-mail
From
that especial someone
At
last the time has arrived
where
work is in tune
