Ardenter
Inertis Precesum
by
N. Scott Reynolds
Taste
amorosa the deep
Pheromone
aroma
Whither
we end in heaven or hell.
This
divine dichotomy
Cleaving
light from dark—
Light
the sanctuary—
So
well known to the ancients—
Be
it superstition
That
built this faulty tower?
Focus
me Venus
To
bid adieu such delusion
I
wont be free
Until
I pray this
Aphroditous
tomb:
May
my mind be free?
May
my mind come to see
Actuality
And
find this ghostly presence
Ceaselessly
Raging upon my
Awakened
cognizance
And
my meditations?
If
I have damned my soul—
My
being—
To
unbounded lives
Upon
this earth
Or
otherwise?
Shall
the one I dream
Hither
me then?
Or
likewise as now
Be
merely a succubus
For
orgasmic frenzy?
Yearning
yet withstanding
This
psyche’s intransigent
Penchant
for passion
Be
it kinetic frivolity
Imputed
tastelessly
Too
bland within the box?
Vivacious
dream
Come
to me!
You
are my hologram
My
virtual reality!
Frenzied
I die uneasy,
Tumid
and static,
Passive
and serene,
yet
aggressively
Ardent
Supple
Goddess
hear me out
Day
wanes
Evening
bevies the light
Away.
Night
falls
I
arise
Are
there not dreams denied
Inundating
invidiously
On
my consciousness?
Shall
I not perish begging Poseidon?
Will
I not steal in to the water?
Reap
love? Reap life?
Free
me o goddess
Humanize
me—
Reconstruct
me,
Take
me to aceldama,
Or
upborne me into the moist
Febrile
sky.
Where
in my felo de se
A phoenix
rises.
