Amid my tears and heartache,
 It was the closing of the day
 I put aside my thoughts.
 And took some time to pray.

 I didn't ask for worldly things,
 Or a better place in life
 I prayed to God for order,
 Amid the turmoil and the strife.

 I thanked the Lord for courage of firemen,
 Paramedics' fortitude, and the strength in each and every cop.
 And the stamina of tradesmen ~ volunteers,
 All those who work and never stop

 I thanked God for the loyalty
 For the sweat and blood which you have lent,
 And the hours that all the World Trade Center workers
 Endlessly have spent.

 I thanked God for our families,
  And the blessings that come our way.
 I thanked Him for our Freedom, and
 Our country ~ sweet land of liberty ~ the good ol' USA

 I asked that God would bless you
 And protect you in your quest
 But most of all I asked Him to let you know
 America and the world is watching
 We THANK YOU; we know that you're the BEST.
