Why must this have to happen
In a world that's so divine
How do we understand
This bitter act of crime

Let us bow our heads
And say, with love, a prayer
For this very act of hatred
Has filled our universal air

What do we tell our children
How do we begin to explain
Thousands of lives have been taken
Our country, grief stricken, with pain

What will happen next
Where do we go from here
It's time to come together
For a war may be very near

Face your brothers and sisters
Extend an open hand
As God has blessed America
We must all unite and stand

Stand up for our faith in God
let him lead the way
For it is him we must trust
To get us through these days

For the sun will rise tomorrow
And the days will slowly pass
Remember our fallen loved ones
Psalm 23 forever cast

Cast in our minds and hearts
Of the power so strong and true
Let's open our hearts to God
For he knows just what to do

Pray for a moment in silence
Remember the events of today
Together as a country
We shall find our way
