MAN 'O' WAR
by A.Sailor

It seems we were two ships that passed in the night.
On rough seas, under threatening skies.
In the moonlight I saw both your cargo of fright,
And the loneliness deep in your eyes.

I could easily see you were fleeing the past,
And the terrible battles of love.
I could tell by the scars that were low on your mast.
And your torn set of sails up above.

I first thought that we two would share a homeport.
Berth together the rest of our days.
But you ran with the wind and I'm sad to report.
That we've anchored in separate bays.

I now have a new course set straight for your heart.
And I'll hold it through hurricane winds.
I will no longer let your fear keep us apart.
I'll be your Man 'O' War 'til the end.
